Rockie Challenger Leigh Jones gives his view of Snett ‘10

For once everything went well, and the car's running better than it ever has. A new camshaft is giving me about another 50 BHP, so not loosing too much now down the straights, the 5ltr cars though are still quicker.

Qualifying was mainly used to shake down the car, and get to grips with the car. I was 5 seconds of my main competitor (Griff 500) and 2 seconds off the other new guy in group C, I knew there was lots of places I could make up time, both of them had done the test day also.

1st race Main competitor had HT problem but a quick pit stop he had it fixed.  I also managed to get past the group C guy a pull a gap, but the Griff 500 had caught me again.  I was holding him off, but under pressure at Russell's 2 laps from the end, I missed my heal-toe and span the car 360 on the entry and the Griff got past, but, due to him looking at me, he span himself on the exit. A quick check that everything was still working, I found a gap and re-joined. I re-took the Griff 500 and just kept in front of the Group C guy. I keep this place to the chequered flag giving me 3rd in Class and my 1st Podium.

2nd race rolling start was a bit out of sync so the Griff started in-front of me, but I was able to keep on the rear of the Griff 500 for 5 laps until he missed a gear allowing me past. This put me 2nd in class.  I stayed there for 7 more laps, but he got past 2 laps from the end on the straight, so I finished 1 second behind him at the finish. It was a good clean fight and a good result for me as he had at least 70 BHP more and is about 100kg lighter!
Due to a DNF of one of the others in class I got another 3rd in class.

I gained 7 seconds over the day also, plus looking at the logs improved my braking and corning G's limits on my last race."
